Lachute Subaru Suzuki opened in 1975 as a general automotive garage and gas station. The garage grew over the years with a small loyal clientele from Lachute and surrounding area. One of the founding principles of good solid customer service contributed as the garage developed a reputation in the small community.

In 1990 a dealership was acquired through Subaru Canada and the garage began selling and servicing Subarus. The AWD Subarus were an excellent product for the location and clientele as travel in rural Quebec can be quite difficult during the winter.

In 1995 the dealership expanded to include Suzuki. This broadened the line of products available to the clientele and opened up more sales and service opportunities.

In 1998 Subaru began selling their Impreza 2.5RS in North America. This was to be a test of the North American performance market. Subaru had a well developed reputation in other countries overseas because of their involvement in the World Rally Championship. At the same time, interest in North American rally was beginning to grow.

The Subaru Impreza 2.5RS was an instant success as the production numbers were quickly purchased. These cars sported a 165hp horizontally opposed 2.5l engine and sport tuned suspension. This was easily in the top ranks when compared to the competition and it received many great reviews among automotive journalists.

Meanwhile, the overseas performance market was booming and the Subaru WRX was enjoying cult status. This WRX was similar to the 2.5RS but had a 2.0l horizontally opposed turbocharged engine that generated anywhere from 218hp to the 280hp models available Japan.

Without the availability of the WRX in North America a growing number of 2.5RS owners began looking to increase the performance of their cars. While some were looking for smaller items such as performance exhaust systems, some went much further by having 280hp WRX drivetrains imported from Japan and transplanted into their cars.

In 2000 Lachute Subaru Suzuki began supplying and installing a small number of performance parts. Within months this small collection grew to a staggering number of items. Tires, suspension parts, engine parts, lighting, body accessories and brakes were all available to be upgraded. Many of these parts are imported from Australia and the UK.

In 2001 Subaru brought the redesigned 2002 model WRX to North America. With a 2.0l 227hp horizontally opposed turbocharged engine the car made huge waves in the performance market. Modifications were not far behind with tuners installing parts and tuning the output to well over 300 horsepower.

Lachute Subaru Suzuki quickly expanded their selection of parts and services to fulfill this growing demand. They began offering tuning services as an official Cobb-APS installation centre. WRXes with the RT spec kit put out well in excess of 300hp and run 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds. Although the WRX was never designed to race the 1/4 mile these cars still run a staggering 12.8 seconds @ 104mph. Enough to embarrass the majority of muscle cars with double the number of cylinders and more than twice the displacement.

Not only is Lachute Subaru Suzuki the exclusive supplier of Prodrive parts in Canada but they are also authorised resellers of DMS suspension, Cobb Tuning parts, MRT Performance parts and Yokohama Tires. Many of the parts they supply are kept in stock ready for installation or ready to be shipped anywhere in North America. Whether you are looking for one of our custom built aluminum skidplates or a set of DMS Gold suspension many customers who order parts are delighted to find that they are in stock ready for installation or shipping.
